cyberknife

Dr Christopher M Nutting BSc MD FRCP ECMO FRSR, Clinical Advisor Radiotherapy at The London Clinic, Clinical Director of Head and Neck Unit at the Royal Marsden

CyberKnife is the very latest in radiosurgical technology, treating cancer in a pain free, non-invasive way.

With CyberKnife our patients often need as few as five sessions as a day patient. That’s why it’s here. To date, more than 80,000 patients have been treated and more than 180 systems are installed worldwide.

It targets tumours using a fine stream of radiation with pinpoint accuracy. In fact, it’s so accurate it can deliver radiation from any angle, that’s why we’ve given it its own spacious, bespoke room.

patient room

With our InTouch system, you can adjust everything in your room just like you would at home. Temperature, lighting, entertainment and even the angle of your bed. We’ve also decorated the interior of each room with relaxing colours and designed them to let in as much natural light as possible. All our patient rooms have windows floor to ceiling. Actually we have designed the entire centre around patients.

Every detail has been carefully considered, like how to build the rooms ergonomically and hygienically. The furniture and fittings have curved edges and sliding doors to help repel infection and HEPA filtration systems are fitted in specialised areas to remove airbone germs.

Our building and everything in it has been designed to maintain optimum hygiene and comfort, without it feeling hospital-like. It’s all part of helping you to feel better during your stay.

lightwell

Light is crucial to creating a restful, healing atmosphere. So we’ve built it into the structure of our new centre. A central light-well enables natural daylight to reach every level. Relaxation areas have been built around this light source, even in our main gallery, three floors below ground.

We’ve also installed a live camera feed, bringing you the beautiful, natural surroundings of nearby Regent’s Park and keeping you in touch with what’s going on in the outside world.
